History and purpose of award

This scholarship was established, via the Victoria Foundation, through a bequest from Karis Boyd, who passed away in 2009. Karis was an occupational therapist who had a distinguished career in New Zealand and a close association with Victoria University of Wellington.

The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage female students to proceed to postgraduate studies (Masters by coursework, Masters by Thesis or PhD) at Victoria University of Wellington.
