External Project Application: Summer Research Scholarship 2020-2021

Description:

Deadline Date:  4:30pm, Monday 3 August 2020 (New Zealand time zone).

Thank you for your interest in hosting a Summer Research Scholar for 2020-2021. The following outlines the process that will take place once you complete the online application.

  • Please note, if you do not have a fully formed project in mind, the earlier you apply will ensure sufficient detail can be obtained prior to the closing date. Please include as much information as possible.

  • Projects will be reviewed by Victoria University of Wellington. Approval is dependent on the validity of the research project and availability of a supervisor through Victoria University of Wellington.

  • Student applications open on 1 September 2020. Allocation of a student to a project is not guaranteed and is dependent on the suitability of applications for each project.

  • If you would like to be involved with the student selection process you must be available between 21 September 2020 and 5 October 2020. The relevant faculty will confirm dates closer to the time. Please discuss your involvement in the selection process with the assigned Victoria University of Wellington supervisor.

  • A contract agreement between your organisation and Victoria University of Wellington will be sent out before a student is allocated to the project. You will then receive an updated schedule with final information and confirmed milestones before the student commences the project.

  • The signed contract must be returned before 2 November 2020.

  • Your organisation will be invoiced by 7 December 2020 for total funding of $3,000 per student.

  • Payments are made to students in three installments, the second and last is contingent on the student completing the relevant milestone.  Milestones are confirmed by the Victoria University of Wellington supervisor.

  • The final report releases the last payment and closes the project.

  • You are invited to attend our Summer Gold competition at the end of the programme. The competition showcases students' research work completed over the summer  with a poster or video (optional student entry).
